Melissa Reiff is Chairwoman, Chief Executive Officer & President for The Container Store, the nation’s leading retailer of storage and organization products and solutions. With a career spanning two decades with the company, Melissa has served in numerous key leadership positions; most recently accepting the role of Chairwoman of the board and President in August of 2019 in addition to her CEO title.

Throughout her career, Melissa has focused on enhancing and strengthening the company’s unique, people-first culture centered on its values-based Foundation Principles. The 7th Foundation Principle – Communication IS Leadership – a discipline she brought to the company, was added in 2008 in her honor for her devotion to this vital component of The Container Store’s culture.

As CEO, Melissa has spearheaded The Container Store’s five-year strategic plan, which includes goals-driven restructuring initiatives and the implementation of key efficiency and effectiveness programs across the company. During her tenure as CEO, the company has earned recognition as one of Fortune’s “Top 100 Best Companies to Work For.”

Melissa is one of the founding member CEOs of The New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) Board Advisory Council, which proactively addresses the critical need for inclusive leadership. She has been honored several times for her leadership acumen by D CEO Magazine and was named as one of 25 executives on “The List of People Shaping Retail’s Future” in 2015 by the National Retail Federation.

Melissa serves on the board of directors of Etsy, Inc. (NASDAQ: ETSY); on the executive board of her alma mater, Southern Methodist University’s Cox School of Business; and as a sustaining member of the Junior League of Dallas. She is a recipient of the SMU Cox School of Business Distinguished Alumna award.
